MIKE KENNY QUINTET

Mike and his talented wife Melissa will start the weekend with their quintet in the delightful surrounds of historic St James Church on Friday night. Their unique brand of between-the-wars music will delight all ages with the sounds of Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and others.  The swinging tunes will have you singing along and tapping your feet.

 

HUNTER SCHOOL FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS STAGE BAND

The HSPA Stage Band is an ensemble featuring students from Year 8 through to Year 12 and introduces students to the life of the professional musician. The band performs regularly at festivals and events in the Hunter Valley

 

HUNTER VALLEY GRAMMAR SCHOOL BAND

The band from HVGS is an outstanding ensemble from the region’s finest instrumentalists and singers.

 

NEWCASTLE GRAMMAR SCHOOL – BRASS RAZOO

Newcastle Grammar School’s Brass Razoo is a well known band that has featured at the Newcastle Jazz Festival and other events featuring their unique style of music. 

 

JAZZ a LA CARTE

Alan Ward and his cart have been a jazz fixture in the Hunter Region for 20 years. The cart is gone but the swing remains and they will provide their special brand of jazz on Saturday at Campbell’s Store and for lunch at the Commercial Hotel.

 

SMOKIN’ CHOPS

Smokin’ Chops made their debut at ChapelJazz in 2014 and will again be providing their own unique, spontaneous, inventive and improvised style of Blues, Ragtime, New Orleans Jazz, Latin Jazz and Swing.

 

FRENCHMAN STREET NEW ORLEANS STRING BAND

Led by Jack McLaughlin on his unique E flat clarinet, the band will be providing the music for the combined church service at the Uniting Church on Sunday morning as well as performing at Campbell’s Store later.

 

LE TOOT ENSEMBLE

Under the leadership of trumpeter Jim Lyons, Le Toot Ensemble has been a fixture of ChapelJazz since its inception and will be the feature band following the ecumenical service on Sunday.

 

SWINGMANIA

Swingmania first performed at ChapelJazz in 2013 and was well received at the Sunday lunch session at the River Royal Hotel. Unfortunately the River Royal was a casualty of the 2015 floods but Swingmania return this year with their unique brand of fun jazz in the laid back surroundings of the River Royal Hotel

 

MARYVILLE JAZZ TRIO

Peter Buckland leads this innovative trio with  genuine New Orleans style clarinet outside the Australian Alpaca Barn at 158 Swan Street.
